The Ragdoll is one of the larger breeds of cat. The male is often bigger and heavier than the female, with an average weight of 7 kg, while the female weighs around 5 kg.
Please note, however, that these weights are indicative and remain an average weight range. Ragdolls may be smaller or larger and therefore weigh more or less. The Ragdoll is defined as a medium-sized cat with medium to strong bones. The most important features of the Ragdoll are its morphology, coat and expression.
They are perfect for those who want a long-haired cat but can't devote much time to grooming. In most cases, a weekly brushing is all that's needed to keep the Ragdoll's coat looking its best.
Like most very large cats, the Ragdoll is a quiet force, a good giant. Ragdolls are very sociable cats. They are gentle, docile, peaceful and curious, but above all they are playful and cuddly and love to follow their master around. Many breeders call them ‘dogs in cats’ bodies’. Ragdolls often integrate fully into their families.
These cats are too gentle for the harshness of the outside world. We therefore recommend keeping them indoors, or building them an outdoor enclosure if you have a garden.
They get on well with other animals (dogs, cats), as long as they are not aggressive towards them. If you have children, teach them to handle the kitten very gently, otherwise you'll have a cat that will hide away to be left alone.
Buying a cat is not something to be taken lightly and needs to be thought through. Make sure you're in the right circumstances before committing yourself.
